Summer Black & Halston Heritage

(Wearing: vintage Chanel blazer, vintage blouse, 3.1 Philip Lim shorts, Chanel bag and clogs)
With the sales approaching I decided to go and buy a dress for my graduation, before all that was left were the spoils of war (seriously have you ever been to Selfridges sale, its terrifying).

Trying on the dress in Selfridges

After deliberating some Westwood, I decided to go and have a look at the Halston Heritage collection, this is after declaring I wouldn’t be buying any of it as I didn’t want to look like a die-hard SATC fan (I am but that’s not the point). But I hold my hands up, the collection is stunning. Top quality and the most flattering cuts, and with many of the pieces around ┬ú200 affordable. SATC or not I would be buying it!

SJP as Carrie in the white version

I tried on the V-neck and fell in love with the cut, it was perfect for me and so flattering. I really wanted it in the emerald green which was made especially for Harvey Nic’s but the only one they had left in my size was damaged. Luckily I convinced a mannequin in Selfridges to hand this one over! I know that it will be a forever dress, and it will go with so many things!

I also tried on this blue one, again so flattering and stunning but this was £415 which I felt was a bit expensive compared to the other dresses. The V-neck and one shoulder dresses were around £230-£260.

I also tried on this black and silver version of the peach dress Carrie wears, and I LOVED it. The perfect party dress! I am definitely going to save up for another Halston Heritage dress, and am really looking forwards to seeing what they bring out in the next collection. I do hope they keep the prices down too, as some pieces were already pushing £500.
You will get to see the dress properly when I graduate, which is going to kill me having to wait until July to wear it!
If you are looking to buy one of the Carrie dresses I would get a move on as many of the pieces have totally sold out. I find myself rather impressed with the whole ‘watch the movie, buy the dress thing’ it is just so, well, fabulous!!

P.S If you are ordering online the sizes are generous so they advise you go a size down. The jersey dresses are quite elasticated so you could get away with a size up or down if choices are low. I tried the black dress in a US4 and US6 and there was no difference.

What a Carrie On!

(Wearing: Lanvin blouse, Vera Wang shrug, Dries van Noten pants, Westwood belt, Chanel sandals, Fendi clutch, F21 ring)
Last night I went to see Sex and the City 2, but firstly I need to get something off my chest:
To all the film reviewers and general other people who feel the need to give their opinions. If you are not a SATC fan, or if you are devoid of a sense of humour, then this film was not made for you!
It was made for all the SATC fans, who have followed the life of the four girls, likely going through the same life long dramas. We love the friendships, the gossip, the stories, the fashion and the sex, but most of all we like it because it is ENTERTAINMENT.
You do not need to explain to us that the outfits are unrealistic, that the storyline is unbelievable and possibly a bit offensive, we know that. The film was a romp, I mean it opened with Liza Minnelli for F’s sake. It was meant to be 2.5hrs worth of fun and it was!
So I suggest you take your reviews and stick them …., you obviously didn’t see what I saw last night. Hundreds of girls and guys all dressed up in their fabulous outfits, out with their friends celebrating basically what SATC is all about – fun and friendship. Exactly what we DO need in a recession.

Love this ring, even if it does make my skin green!

Jacket Vivienne Westwood – when I bought this a few years ago it always got me some odd looks due to the huge shoulders which were so not in fashion then, but that’s why I loved it as it was so original, damn you Balmainia for taking the special away.

Last night was also rather special for me due to what I got to wear. The blouse and shrug were actually from Carries wardrobe on the series! I also have the an authenticity certificate signed by Patricia Field!! My friends and I can’t decide if we saw Carrie wear it, if we saw it hung in her closet or if we just imagined it because it is so typically Carrie, but the task is now on to re-watch the box set all over again. Which surprisingly is taking far longer than you would think.

Lanvin runway top and Vera Wang shrug from Carries SATC wardrobe – I prefer to wear the Lanvin back to front

And the girls wore Westwood!
At the premiere and in the opening scene – Kim’s premiere look stole the show, so Hollywood glamour. I adore Miranda’s orange dress.
How fabulous was Carries totally impractical Souk dress! Was it just me or did anyone else think Sam looked 100 times better than Miley?

Toooo fab!!!!!
So did you go and see it? What did you all think?

Marc Jacob’s New Look

(Wearing: Whistles top and skirt, Topshop shoes, Fendi clutch, vintage belt)

(With Matthew Williamson for H&M leather jacket)

(Quartz, brass and leather vintage belt by Jutra’s)

In my opinion there is nothing quite like wearing a big full skirt complete with petti-coat, it makes you feel very ladylike. I have this in red too, bought from Whistles outlet last year. The skirt also has pockets, which I LOVE. If I were a deigner I would make sure everything had pockets! I wore this stunning vintage belt to clash up the outfit a bit, I usually wear it with my big brown Vivienne Westwood belt. I had forgotten about this belt, but was reminded when Judy at Atlantis Home posted about her rock crystal belt and some new ones she had for her store. So, thanks Judy it is nice to be reunited!!

In 1947 Christian Dior set the world on fire when he introduced the ‘New Look’ as Carmel Snow termed it, nipped in waist, below knee hems, full skirt and full bust.

(Dior’s New Look)

Marc Jacobs did the same for A/W 2010 Louis Vuitton, once again embracing the female form. Even on the runway, however this was a tricky look to pull off, but done right it looks sensational. For the launch of the new Flagship London boutique the starlets were out, embracing the collection. But who got it right?

Alexa Chung and Kirsten Dunst, both tall and willowy have no problem pulling off the look. Whilst I think Kirsten does it to absolute perfection, Alexa looks slightly to bottom heavey, to her pettite top and waist.

Pixie Geldoff and Daisy Lowe are both curvey, the body shape this look was made for, but the cleavage it just too trashy for me.

I adore Gemma Arterton, but wish she had worn a lower neck and shorter sleeve, this look can make a big chest look too big and out of proportion. I think she should have switched outfits with Alexa. Pixie would have suited Kirsten’s dress better too, whilst Kirsten, with out the big bust, would have made Pixie’s dress look chic.

For me the star of the night was Jerry Hall, leaving the trends for the youngsters she showed true style sticking to a classic look she knows works for her.

Will you be trying out this look?

New Louis Vuitton Leopard Scarf (Out Fri) & Vivienne Westwood Socks

Grazia mag – with Westwood lookbook and Stylist mag, yep that is my work desk, they are very important documents!

Grazia reports that there are four new colours of the Louis Vuitton Leopard Scarf being released for the launch of the new flagship store in London – irritatingly this is the only place they will be available for purchase too. Prices have gone up to ┬ú620, but if you want one I am sure they will still sell out fast. Available from Friday 28th May 2010. Nice as they are I won’t be queueing for one, I will be spending my Friday with the girls watching SATC 2.
(Wearing vintage Chanel blazer, Zara trousers & tee, Nine West sandal clogs- somewhat slippery with socks)

This is my outfit for the day, please excuse the bedraggled appearance, summer has abandoned the UK for rainy and it is quite chilly too! Another pink and brown outfit, hmm unintentional but hey when you are onto a good thing!

This is my favourite pair of Vivienne Westwood socks, they have just got lots of new designs on their website ( starting at £12 they are a perfect little mid-week treat. I got some amazing over knee ones last week I look forwards to showing you.
So let me know if any of you bag a new LV, some socks or if you will be seeing SATC2?
P.S If you wear socks with sandals and it rains, they get rather soggy!

Pink Ruffles

(Wearing vintage pink blouse, Chanel brooch, 3.1 Phillip Lim shorts, Fendi clutch, Michael Kors shoes)

Just a quick outfit post, this is the pink ruffle blouse I bought on a vintage shopping expedition with fellow blogger Florrie. Just right for a smart summer work look. Also saying good bye to the Kors shoes, I didn’t make it out of the house in them, just too big 🙁 but on the brightside my mum loves them! My Pom Sirius saying Hi too. I have been extreamly busy lately but I will try and catch up and vist eveyones blogs soon.

Florida: The Swag

As you can see I did a little bit of shopping in Florida, we went to the beautiful Mall at Millenia and the Prime discount outlet. At Millenia I finally got to see why all you US girls love Forever Twenty One where I picked up the black and white top, brown shorts, cream knit top and the best accessories – knuckle duster rings! I also got two amazing pairs of shoes at Nine West, the clog sandals and zebra print heels. They were on sale so I got both pairs for less then $80, can you believe it! Nine West are such good quality too, over here in the UK you would expect to pay at least ┬ú150 for shoes of that quality. They also have a wider fit which is perfect for me. I also got this gorgeous mac at Anthropology for half price. The green t-shirt and cap were from the University of South Florida store, well when in Rome as they say!

Over at the discount outlet I picked up the cork Michael Kors shoes, which I love but have now been donated to my mum as they were just to big. I also got a khaki Chloe skirt both at Saks Off 5th. I also discovered Manolo Blanik shoes are simply far too narrow for my feel, much to my disappointment. I bought most of my stuff in Calvin Klein where I got two shorts and top outfits, a blazer and some sunglasses.
Now Target I was very intrigued by, seriously is there anything you can’t get in that store! I wanted to see the Zac Posen range but there wasn’t anything left I had wanted. They also have a Liberty of London range, so I picked up this cute sleep set in a fabulous Liberty floral print. I also got lots of accessories here including two lovely Lucite bangles, a watch, necklace and some earrings.
Please excuse the bad photo, my camera simply refuses to work well in the dark (I think I am well over due a new one). But here I am wearing my new obsession, the nude Calvin Klein blazer. The sleeves have a ruched detail, which really make it stand out. Although the colour is becoming to be a bit of pain, I have some how managed to get lipstick on the lapel and some weird blue mark on the back – if any one has any tips on removing lippy please let me know!

(Wearing Calvin Klien blazer, Zara trousers, FXXI top, Chanel clogs)

Right I am now off to finish pulling out all my summer clothes as apparently summer in England is finally here.

P.S No idea how the comments got turned off for the last post ‘Florida: The Trip’, I think they should be OK now!

P.S Probably the oddest thing that happened, was some guy told me I looked like a female member of Kiss! Apperently that was a compliment LOL!

Florida: The Packing

All this, one case, easy!

Before I tell you about my trip, I thought we should start with the packing! I have an awful phobia of my case getting lost, broken or stolen (I have had cases go missing and get damaged in the past), so I never, ever take anything I really love or is valuable. Last year I took all my shoes in my handluggage much to the amusement of the airport staff – they were Westwood!! So with the exception of a couple of Westwood shirts, the Pucci and the Matthew Williamson for H&M pretty much everything else came courtesy of a quick dash around the high street Primark and Matalan are great for cheap essentials.

When packing I always make sure I have the appropriate outfits for the occasion, with this trip mainly being for work most of my outfits were smart/smart casual. By far the easyest thing for smart in the heat are a pair of black linen trousers, black crop trousers, two shirts, a selection of nutral tops and two jackts. Throw in a couple of scarves, great for making the same outfit look differnt, a pair of heeled sandals and a pair of flats.
Play: Evening and day
For evening I choose two dresses, the green wrap dress can easily be worn as a day dress or evening dress, whilst the black maxi can be very glam or beach babe with a change of shoes. Take the crop black pants and heel and any top with make a perfect smart day or night time outfit. Accessories are important too for easy transformation, as is swapping the day bag for a clutch.

Finally, pool! A swimming costume and a sarong, what more do you need!
For me that’s as ‘capsule’ as it gets!

The Like, Gia Coppola & Zac Posen for Target!

Whilst I am still in the land of ‘trying to catch up with my life now I am home’ I just had to show you this short film by Gia Coppola (nice of Sophia) of the fab girl group The Like. The video was made to showcase the Zac Posen for Target range – which is out now.

I actually got to visit Target for the first time on my trip to Florida last week, and I can see why it is such a hit! I wasn’t lucky enought to find the black & navy ruffle dress by Zac Posen left in my size but I did get some other goodies I will share with you in the next post.

So what did you think of the film? Don’t you love the girl’s style! Did any of you snaffle some Zac Posen?

My favourite pieces (images
