Outfit: My Favourite Piece of Westwood, Ever

(Wearing: Vivienne Westwood Worlds End ‘Shirtwaister’ dress, VW Gold Label ‘Expensiv’ belt, animal toe shoes, bag, necklace and tights)

I am sure you have noticed lately I have been in a real obsessive Vivienne Westwood mood. Not wearing just one piece but head to toe, oh well why not! It also makes me laugh when my friend Rich does the same, we end up looking like walking Westwood mannequins!

(Rich is Wearing: Vivienne Westwood Man suit, Gold Label bag, Kurt Geiger boots)

This shirtwaister dress is my absolute favourite piece of VW, I have been living in it lately but I think this is the first time I have posted it up on the blog. The design is one of Vivienne’s personal favourites too. Next time I need to get a photo of the back as it has two tail darts that stick out, it is amazing!! I can’t wait until they get some more in as I want it in a couple of different colours.

This is my friend Lisa who is the manager of Worlds End she is wearing the shirtwaister in white (I took this photo from the Worlds End website which has tons of other amazing images)

Here are two other Westwood girls wearing the dress in green and baby blue (photos from WayneTippets.com and the VW facebook page)

Hope you are all having a great weekend,

Shoe Saturday: Marian Ankle Boots

Neela, Ceres

Ok it is still July, technically the middle of summer, although us Brit’s haven’t seen all that much of it. But never mind the weather as there are plenty of reason to stay indoors, with so many beautiful new season shoes and boots to drool over online!
Even better are the new season trends which we can wear now. A personal favourite of mine is the ankle boot. A staple for A/W but also perfect for summer evenings and when the days are on the cool side.

Kamila, Matrie

There are lots of new trends emerging and also some old favourites. The Marian collection of ladies boots on Spartoo really lit up my eyes, there was one for every taste I am sure. The black beaded Neela are perfect for the glam-goth look, whilst the Ceres with its monochrome black and white is a perfect nod to the 60’s. I adore texture so the Kamila stingray effect boots in soft grey really appealed. For a more girly take on texture the Matrie with its cluster of leaves and petals are wonderful. Who could resist the shiny chestnut of the Circe, in contrast to the more utilitarian buckles of the Diane.

Circe, Diane

I simply adore this range of boots, tell me which is your favourite?

Outfit: Hold It – Updated

(Wearing: Vivienne Westwood Gold Label dress, boots and belt, Agent Provocateur hold-ups)

After tweeting this morning #todayiamwearing about my AP hold ups @mrsbossa, @dinoprincesschr, @OddSocksAlex and I (@pearlwestwood) go into a conversation about hold-ups and stockings. I have only just taken to wearing hold-ups since discovering that the AP ones actually do stay held up!
If you are a seasoned hold-up wearer you might be thinking ‘duh!’ but to us rookies the prospect can be quite daunting if you don’t know any better. You see every pair of hold-ups I have ever tried have never actually stayed up, some are too short, some too long, some dig in your thigh, some roll down … there are so many problems with them I had long ago given up. The AP ones are amazing though, they are just the right length, just the right width and have three rubber strips around the top to keep them in place all day. That includes getting on and off public transport, going up and down stairs, sitting down, getting up, crouching down. You name it they dodn’t budge and they are so comfy too. A bit dear yes, but well worth it as they last longer too.

Just me and my dog, Sirius look very photogenic

Char says she wears Matalan and M&S hold-ups which are good too, so we want to know if you wear hold-ups where are they from?

Update: Because I like to please you guys here is a close up of the print some of you asked about. It is a pebbled beach and always makes me think of the proper British seaside.

Beauty: False Eye-Lash Review

Wearing ‘Glamour’ false eye-lashes

Lingerie Please sent me over some of their Baci false eye-lashes to review, I was really excited to try them, never having done so before. Ok maybe there was one time when I was 18 that I wore a pair of metallic blue and purple ones that made me look ridiculous, but other than that I have never tried them.

I was worried that they would be very faffy to apply or that the glue would irritate my sensitive eyes but I was proved wrong on both accounts. I did have a few problems getting them to stick on at first but a few trusty tweeters helped me out. First wise words were from Anne Louise who told me to apply them after putting on the rest of my make-up. This was a really helpful tip as the box recommended applying the false lashes first and then applying liner and mascara which would have been very messy! I was still having trouble getting them to stick though, I would get one side stuck but then the other side would pop up. Danielle came to my rescue and advised I rub the strip to soften it up a bit before applying the glue, then leaving the glue a bit longer to go tacky for extra sticking power. Thanks to the girls my perseverance payed off and I am now confident with applying them.

I tried out two styles ‘Glamour’ and ‘Starlight’, the Glamour are a more natural look, whilst the Starlight are a fuller style.

Here I am wearing one Starlight lash with no make-up to show you how they look. I think they really open up the eyes and I love how you can go for a more subtle or dramatic effect.
The lashes range from £2.50-£3.00 which I thought was a complete bargain, they are also reusable so even better.
Do you have any expert lash tips?
What do you think of false lashes?

Emergency Shopping!

In yesterdays post I mentioned I had to dash out quick to pick up a last minute sales bargain, here it is … socks!
Not just any old socks but Vivienne Westwood socks. I really love her statement socks but have to begrudge paying ┬ú60 for them full price so I always wait for the sales. As soon as I found out these were reduced I couldn’t wait to get them. I also got tights with flames up the legs, another thing I had been after for ages.
Agent Provocateur (Created by Vivienne Westwood’s son Joe Corre) also has a a brilliant sale on so I treated myself. I bought the Melody set, you can check it out online yourselves I draw the line at showing you my pants!

Anyone else found any last minute sales goodies?

Oufit: Not Quite a Classic White Shirt – Vivienne Westwood Gage Shirt

(Wearing: Vivienne Westwood Gold Label ‘Gage’ shirt, vintage Wrangler jeans – yes they are high waisted ‘mom’ jeans and yeah they did belong to my mum, VW + Melissa shoes)

Oh dear look at me wearing a ‘classic’ outfit! It always makes me sneer when I read those magazine features which tell you your life will be complete upon owning a white shirt, Breton top, trench coat, blah, blah, blah. Sure it is an easy formula to follow for a smart, simple look but everyone looking the same is not for me. That said I do own some of these classic items, I think most people do. Yet I never wear them together, so I have no idea why I am wearing a ‘crisp white shirt’ and ‘blue jeans’. It was one of those get dress in 5mins, pull on random clothes that look clean. I don’t hate this look, but neither do I really love it either. Given more time I think I would have added something, but out of the moment now I am not sure what. In my mind I was thinking of wearing a purple jersey dress over the jeans and shoes, but it was creased, I pulled out a pink floral vintage top but it needed something ‘else’ something I didn’t have time to find.

You will also see up close the shirt is crumpled as I had a good faff tying it in a knot, tucking it in. The of course I had to take a quick photo – note the edgy garage door, no time for my usual brick wall!
Where was I going in such a rush you might now be wondering? Last minute sales shopping at the Trafford Center an hour before closing and so you see the sales shopping demons have made a reappearance. You will laugh even more when you see what the emergency item was, but I will save that for now,
Happy Monday,
Pearl

Shoes: Copper Riding Boots

Meet the newest addition to my shoe collection, a vintage-ish (from a fair few seasons ago) pair of Vivienne Westwood riding boots. They are buttery soft, copper and black leather with an elevator platform. I won’t lie they are high and I won’t be walking miles in the, but oh they are beautiful. As they are shown here they come just above my knee, but they can also be worn pulled right up thigh-high or rolled down shorter. Inside they are lined in fuchsia pink leather.

Vivienne Westwood has used equestrian influences through out her collections for many years. Most famously in ‘Voyage to Cythera’, A/W 1989, where she paired hunting jackets with nude jodhpurs decorated with fig leaves. Riding boots and whips were also seen in ‘On Liberty’, don’t worry I shan’t be mounting my coffee table!

Shoe Saturday: Kate’s Turquoise Boots

Kate Moss and husband Jamie Hince

Kate Moss has long been a style icon, but more so in recent years for her casual skinny jean wearing ways. This recent outfit reminded me of Kate from her runway modelling years when she embraced the boho vintage chic look, all silk layers and beading. Her gown is stunning of course, yet it is the combination with the turquoise boots which makes the look so striking.
Here are some of my favourite Kate style boots:

Regard Riani, Patrick Cox Nolan, Fornarina Guendalina

I really like the jewelled detailing on the Regard boots, they look like amethysts and tourmaline encased in silver for a real lux take. The Patrick Cox boots have a Victorian style with the lace ups, whilst the Fornarina boots have that laid back slouch vibe. I think they would all work well with vintage dresses like Kate as well as being paired down with jeans.

Outfit: Mummy Cardigan

(Wearing: Vivienne Westwood Gold Label ‘Mummy’ cardigan, ‘Gage’ shirt and silver T-bar shoes, VW Red Label ‘Rock and Roll’ velvet shorts, VW bag)

Didn’t think I would be getting to wear the cardi and shorts I bought for A/W so soon, but it is cold and wet up North. I seriously need to get Dame Viv to custom make me some stylish bandages, the knee one especially is really starting to annoy me.

(Rich is Wearing: Vivienne Westwood GL ‘Gage’ shirt, ‘Squiggle’ bomber, ‘Roman 3-strap’ sandals, VW Man trousers, Worlds End scarf)

(Chris is Wearing: VW GL ‘Tits’ t-shirt, VW Man suit, Tom Ford glasses – Chris works at VW and knows a hell of a lot about Viv, probably even more than me)

Some treats!

After almost two weeks being stuck in the house ill I am now feeling much better, thanks for all your get well messages. Down to a course of steroids the joint inflammation has calmed down, although I want to get off these med’s as soon as possible they really mess up your appetite. I have been constantly hungry, even right after a meal I could carry on eating, so I am going to have to be really conscious of what I chow down or I won’t be fitting into any of my clothes!

There is nothing like spending time with friends to cheer you up I also bought a little treat in the last of the sales, will show you tomorrow. My friends and I don’t actually plan to be head to toe in Westwood it just always happens that way when I have my camera with me! I keep trying to talk Rich into starting a blog, but he doesn’t have time. In fact so many of my friends wear amazing outfits, I should get them on FPOW more often.

I know I haven’t posted the Vivienne Westwood shoe exhibition photo’s yet, but as you weren’t actually meant to take photo’s I had to use my phone not my camera so they aren’t the best quality. My mum took some on her iPhone, we just need to find time to download them and see if they are any better quality. In the mean time I have uploaded the ones I took to my Facebook page for you all to see.
