Outfit: Repertoire Fashion

Wearing: Day Birger jumper*, M&S jeans, Guess shoes, Vivienne Westwood handbag

Jeans and jumpers are pretty much my work wear staple at the moment. With this impossibly cold and changeable weather simple yet classic items are key, then you have the option to dress them up or down. This Day Birger jumper from Repertoire Fashion is the perfect neutral base item, it goes just as well with jeans as it does skirts. It is a great balance to these patched jeans and leopard print shoes, taming the prints clash. I especially like the longer back and side split, which is not only a flattering cut but adds interest. You really can’t beat an Aran knit sweater for winter. If you’d like the chance to win a fabulous new winter knit check out the Repertoire Twitter giveaway too.

Shoes: Velvet Cons

I love velvet, in fact I’d happily live in a world filled with the stuff its perfect for chairs, sofas, cushions, bedding you name it. Where it gets a bad rep is when its used in fashion you soon get visions of Blossom’s floppy hat, Gothic long black Frock coats or bad stretch trousers from your Gran. But when its used well – think Christopher Kane, it can be one of the most striking fabrics plus everyone will want to hug you… that could go either way I guess. Anyway my point is that it shouldn’t work on a pair of Converse but it does, really, really well! I’m utterly obsessed with these and when they match the décor of your local pub that’s even better right? RIGHT? I’ve been eyeing up the Con’s in the sale and am tempted with the leopard print ones, you know I can’t resist an animal print!velevert cons

What Pearl Wore 2014

Since starting this blog I have started off each new year with a round up of my favourite outfits. I wasn’t sure if to do so this year due to the evolution of the blog, but then again I think its interesting to be able to look back over my fashion journey.  Sadly the blog is still suffering from the recent hacker incident and some of the images aren’t showing, it is disheartening to say the least. It will take time to rebuild so please bear with me.  Here are the links to my previous 5 years in fashion and a rather sparse year 6:

(sorry but posts for these years aren’t back up yet from the hacking, its taking a long, long time to restore 2012, 2013)

 What Pearl Wore 2014

Full on Westwood

My Carrie Bradshaw moment – the skirt is a version of her wedding dress in the Sex and The City movie! All Vivienne Westwood couture

Squiggle, squiggle, squiggle!

One of my favourite Gold Label gowns, its got a train what more can I say.

My favourite Worlds End piece and favourite dress in the world, the Shirtwaister.

Evening wear

Once upon a time I would have said there was no distinction between by day to night wear, these days my workwear has to be really toned down which has influenced by style all round. These are two cheap High St outfits the black is River Island and Zara, the floral is Select but I really like the cuts on them both – with crazy shoes by Chanel and Agent Provocatuer though, you can’t take the girl that far out of the city!

Best thing about winter? Its the coats and this is my favourite coat by a mile, 90’s Westwood at its finest. You can’t keep a coat like this locked away for best, worn here with River Island jumper, M&S jeans, ASH boots.

Can’t beat a vintage aran knit and a VW kilt with some killer boots.

As much as I like coats and boots I am much more of a summer girl, if only for the easy of getting ready in the morning. Dress + shoes = done!

60’s influence in a dress from my beloved Mooch vintage in Sheffield, Fendi B belt, VW shoes

If you aren’t sick of seeing this dress on the blog by now then you are doing well!

Little pin-up/sailor inspired outfit. top River Island everything else VW

Cute little Topshop find with staple Converse, wish we had more days hot enough for this!
