Trends: Look stylish on the beach this spring/summer

Look stylish on the beach this spring/summer ÔÇô opt for cool, simple separates

ItÔÇÖs almost the peak summer season and understandably youÔÇÖre fretting about what is going to make you look glam on the beach. It feels like forever since youÔÇÖve worn your ladies swimwear and now youÔÇÖre thinking of the best way to feel beach confident. DonÔÇÖt feel like you have to bare all when on the beach, La Redoute can show you how simple separates can make you feel confident, yet beach ready.

Possibly the number one beach essential you need ÔÇô apart from a swimsuit ÔÇô is a kaftan or tunic. When heading for a quick bite to eat after swimming in the pool or sea, the last thing you want to do is go back to the hotel and completely change. A loose fitting, lengthy kaftan, tunic or maxi dress is perfect for throwing over swimwear when youÔÇÖve dried off. These can come in a range of styles and patterns too so they can achieve a range of looks. Embellished and sequin designs can be thrown on for an evening where you need not be uber glamourous. Even though a kaftan or tunic is semi casual, the patterns and added extras ensures that you will look ready for your evening out. Cotton kaftans and tunics look great in the day when shopping and lunch on the go is on the agenda. The cool cotton material guarantees that you will keep cool in the summer heat. If you feel uncomfortable simple wearing a long tunic or kaftan, opt for shorter styles and wear with linen shorts.

If you are simply lounging around the pool on your holiday, a loose slash neck t shirt teamed with denim shorts are perfect summer separates to cover up when the sun dips behind the clouds. These items create a laid back bohemian feel, especially when teamed with chunky jewellery, feather earrings and a headband. Add gladiator sandals to complete the look.

For the evening, step away from the long dresses you always wear and instead opt for cool, simple separates. In order to stand out from the crowd, team crisp linen trousers with a bright top in a jewel or coral tone. Add wedges to add height and oversized jewelled earrings to add glamour. If you would prefer a sleeker silhouette, tuck a simple vest top into your linen pants for a streamlined effect. In this instance, navy works well with white linen trousers. Add an oversized sun hat for Riviera chic. For a sailor chick look, add a striped Breton top.

These separates can be interchanged and incorporated into different outfits and this is ideal for those who have limited packing space. The tunic you can just throw on after the pool can be teamed with the denim shorts mentioned earlier to create an evening look and the linen trousers can be worn with a strappy top during the day if the weather dips.

Summer is full of special occasions. Whether itÔÇÖs a wedding or garden party, there are plenty of events to keep your summer busy. However, before you can let your hair down and have a good time, thereÔÇÖs the important matter of finding that perfect outfit!
If itÔÇÖs during the day then donÔÇÖt worry about looking too formal. Think smart-casual but with a touch of glam. One item which always ticks the right boxes are maxi dresses UK. An absolute must for any ladyÔÇÖs wardrobe, maxis are the ideal transition piece for those day events that last well into the night. Tasteful, elegant and guaranteed to impress, couple a pretty printed maxi with tan wedges and a light cardie, and youÔÇÖll be good to go!

Days Out

Days out are a little different. Perhaps youÔÇÖre thinking of taking the kids to the zoo or visiting the beach. In which case, you┬á need to dress more practically; clothes which youÔÇÖll be comfortable wearing and donÔÇÖt mind getting dirty. However, thatÔÇÖs not to say that you canÔÇÖt still be stylish!
Cropped trousers are great way to show that youÔÇÖre ready for summer. Be they chinos or linen trousers, theyÔÇÖre smart and work well with anything. You could pair them with a vest and a crochet jumper, or wear them with a white tee and chic navy blazer; the choice is yours!

Office Attire

With work wear itÔÇÖs about achieving that happy medium of comfort and sophistication. On the one hand you want to give the impression of professionalism, but at the same time, eight hours in tight uncomfortable clothes doesnÔÇÖt inspire productivity. So our advice is, keep it simple!
A sleek black pencil skirt combined with a gorgeous silk blouse exudes confidence as well as being easy to work in; worthy additions to your wardrobe. Or alternatively you could sport a classic midi with some cute court shoes. Lovely.

Worlds End Berlin – Anthony’s Guest Post

So, what to say about Worlds End Berlin ? It is bigger than the London store but ironically has way less stuff. There is mainline men’s wear and a few dresses, a good selection of scarfs and a small selection of bags, in the back room there is a sales rail which has some good discounted items.

The store is located at the end of a fashionable street that has APC among a few other select boutique stores.

The staff are really friendly and helpful and speak perfect English so not a struggle at all to find items for you.

The German dress sense is to dress down and not up and few of the youth know who Vivienne is but the store is trying to raise awareness of the brand and seem to be doing a good job of it.

Over all a great place to visit if you are in Berlin but not the Worlds End that I know and love.

Whilst I was there I purchased a grey mountain hat with squiggle lining and a cardigan by intellectual leisure as I fell in love with it,

Intellectual leisure is exclusive to Worlds End Berlin and is made by the team behind Vivienne’s knitwear I am in formed by the staff.

Huge thanks to Anthony for reporting back from Worlds End Berlin for us

A Celebration of British Fashion & Beauty

The winners of the Queens Award for Enterprise, an honour given to British companies who have proven they are ÔÇ£outstanding in their fieldÔÇØ, have been announced recently with several hugely popular British companies gaining much-deserved recognition.

This has been a great moment for British fashion, among other categories of recipients, as it not only recognises the hard work and talent of those influencing British fashion today, but recognises the huge influence Britain has on the international fashion.

Brands within the fashion industry which have been recognised this year include the Cambridge Satchel Company, maternity fashion label Tiffany Rose, and nail polish masterminds Nails Inc.

The Cambridge Satchel Company has been recognised within the category of International Trade thanks to their contribution towards exports. This hugely popular company began on the founderÔÇÖs kitchen table in 2008 and has since grown into a huge international force to be reckoned with. It has graced the shoulders of celebrities like Zooey Deschanel, Fearne Cotton and Elle Fanning, and itÔÇÖs even been on the Christine Baranski┬áshoulders on the TV set of The Good Wife.

Tiffany Rose was also honoured within the International Trade accolade. The maternity label has experienced a massive growth in over sea sales over the past three years, in parts thanks to its celebrity fans.

Stars including Holly Willoughby, Emma Bunton and Myleene Klass have appeared on television and within magazines wearing the stunning clothing offered by Tiffany Rose, meaning international interest has soared.

Finally, Nails Inc was given the QueenÔÇÖs Award for Enterprise due to the international success of the brands. Established in 1999, the nail polish label creates and sells not only products for use at home, but has nail bars world-wide for customers to use and enjoy ÔÇô and the best thing about all these brands you ask, theyÔÇÖre all created on home soil!

See here for the list of the queens award recipients.

Man Wisdom: Paying the Price for Looking Good

Male grooming has been on the increase over the past few years, and shows no sign of slowing down as more men than ever are choosing to spend their cash on beauty treatments and products. Everything from specialised menÔÇÖs face wash to ÔÇÿmanscapingÔÇÖ their legs, chest and other delicate areas have resulted in a boom in the male grooming industry, and market leaders have been taking full advantage of this new phenomenon.

The most popular grooming products in 2012 were shampoo, body spray, shower gel and fragrances; though many more also use lip balm, moisturiser, hair spray and fake tan as part of a regular beauty regime.
The most popular brands used by men are not always the most recognised. While Adidas, Hugo Boss and Gillette have been found to be the most recognised brands by men, Lynx comes top with the most popular brand men use on a regular basis. Many designer brands such as D&G, Guess and Diesel are avoided by some men due to their association with femininity, and the likes of Maybelline and Max Factor, while widely recognised, would never be used due to the female audience.

It would seem that while men are happy to embrace the stereotypically feminine past time of waxing, plucking and pruning, but only if itÔÇÖs ÔÇÿjust for menÔÇÖ. Market experts have quickly realised this, hence the metallic looking bottles, ÔÇÿmorning after the night beforeÔÇÖ wording, and the presence of bootilicious women lusting after the men in ad campaigns.

ItÔÇÖs not all glamor and pampering though, as new stats from show more than 14% of men have suffered injury for their vanity. The top five treatments to have caused injury were UV tanning (20%), spray tanning (16%), hair cut or dyeing (13%), eyebrow waxing or threading (12%), and leg waxing (10%).

Perhaps the most shocking thing about these stats are the female counterparts. Men are four times more likely to sustain an injury from using a tanning bed than women, and eight times more likely to experience trouble when spray tanning.

As with all human progress, perhaps this could be due to womenÔÇÖs ÔÇÿevolutionÔÇÖ within the beauty industry, and with men still new to the process they could still have a thing or two to learn. Perhaps future generations of beauty-loving men will look upon the new comers of the 21st century and gasp in horror at the mistakes made by the first generation of salon regulars.

Beauty: Chanel Illusion DÔÇÖOmbre Long Wearing Eye Shadow Review

Chanel Illusion DÔÇÖOmbre Long Wearing Eye Shadow REVIEW

My gorgeous blogging buddy Rebecca brings you today’s post, she writes the fabulous ‘Be Beautiful’ beauty blog, I always envy how stunning Rebecca’s make up is and she has lots of great tips on her blog. We have both fallen in love with the new Chanel Illusion D’Ombre eyeshadow so here is Rebecca to give you the expert view.

Using Chanel Illusion D’Ombre to create a striking smokey eye (learn how to recreate the look)

IÔÇÖll hold my hands up. IÔÇÖm a little bit obsessed with Chanel make up. I say little bit, but I actually have a full on love affair with the brand at present. The beautiful Lisa Eldridge doesnÔÇÖt help matters. I hadnÔÇÖt ever delved into the world of luxury make up until I watched some of her tutorials where she showcases some of the beautiful products from the range. Most recently, I picked up the Coco Rogue En Shine Hydrating Lip Shine in En Vogue (an effortlessly gorgeous coral colour perfect for Summer) after watching one of her Summer tutorials but today IÔÇÖm here to talk about the divine Illusion DÔÇÖOmbre Long Wearing Eye Shadows.

Now although Chanel market these little pots of wonder as eye shadows IÔÇÖd say they are much more of an eye shadow/gel/cream hybrid. This means that once they are dry they donÔÇÖt really budge unless you want them to. IÔÇÖve found that with a primer they last pretty much all day without creasing making them perfect for hot weather (which we still seem to be waiting for) or for a night out.

I have to mention the colour pigmentation with these eye shadows. The colour translates on to the skin exactly how it looks in the pot. You can either use them lightly for a quick wash of colour or you can build them up for a more intense look. Also, they come with a handy little brush which is very useful!

ThereÔÇÖs just something about buying something from the Chanel counter that makes me feel extremely special. Their beautiful embossed double C on all their products in gorgeous chic, black packaging really does make them an indulgence.

When it comes to price, they come in at ┬ú23.00. They are expensive but I really believe that in this particular case, you get what you pay for. IÔÇÖve not found any high street alternative/dupe that comes even close to the colour pay off, intensity or durability of the Illusion DÔÇÖOmbre eye shadows.

Overall, I simply adore them and want the whole collection. Next on my list is Illusoire and with my birthday around the corner fingers crossed IÔÇÖll find it wrapped up for me on the 31st!

My Guest Post for Vivienne Westwood World’s End

You can read my article for Vivienne Westwood’s Worlds End blog today ‘Alcoholic Styles‘.

The Alcoholic or ‘asymmetric’ cuts are a key feature of Vivienne’s designs. Here I am wearing one of my own ‘Drunken’ shirts – I have been in bed with a chest infection and flu all week so lets just say I was far too sick to even attempt an outfit photo, so why I even tried shows my dedication to my cause. I looked like I was about to drop dead in every photo, but this is a really great outfit so I will shoot it again when I feel better! Until then head on over to Worlds End blog and check out my post, leave a comment over there and let me know what you think. I am writing over there under ‘Natalie’ – its a long story for those of you who dont already know it, I will tell you about it another time, because I want you to go read my post!

LFW AW12: Teatum Jones

During London fashion week schedules are always pretty hectic, sometimes you can end up with four shows clashing! I really hate to let any of the designers down and miss the show so a huge thank you to Lawrence for attending on my behalf and writing this fantastic review. I am enthralled with the delicious AW12 collection ‘Once Upon an Innocence’ the Wilhelm pants and ethereal prints, everything is so right for now:

I was very delighted to swipe PearlÔÇÖs invitation off her oh-so-busy schedule to attend the Teatum Jones presentation at the ravishing Heritage Suite on the third floor of the iconic Liberty of London department store. As I clutched the textured forest green invitation at the entrance of the stunning monochrome tutor building, a man approached me and immediately directed to the lift, leading my way to the third floor. Subsequently upon arrival, Ushered in by friendly ladies from Trace Publicity. Then a sharp looking waiter appeared after I scribbled my name down on the guest list ÔÇô I picked up a glass of fresh apple juice with lashings of ice and walked into the beautifully carved wooden walls of the suite.
I was greeted by ┬¢ of Teatum Jones; Rob Jones who designs with his pal Catherine Teatum (who I also shared a few words with) ÔÇô As you probably have noticed by now, the label is named after each otherÔÇÖs surnames combined. Having both been separately schooled in menswear design they both had work experience working for Luella Bartley, Warren Noronha and John Richmond before setting the label up in 2009.
Rob was telling me that the inspiration for the collection was a blend of 20th century Hollywood crime scene photography and 19th century GrimmÔÇÖs fairy tales in a modern wayÔÇô If Hansel & Gretel was to happen today… It would receive a front page story of every respectable newspaper (WORLDWIDE) But I shall say this; the odd inspiration did translate into something very exquisite and alluring.

The colour palette was a mix of conservative shades of charcoals and khaki against the electric magenta pinks and fluorescent lime green a somewhat accustomed trademark of the label with their colour schemes. The fabrics ranged from chalky tweeds, stonewashed silks and thick pressed wool. The fabulous cocktail dresses had special hidden pockets and pleats within that revealed coloured smoke clouds in the panelled print that was splattered across skirts, trousers, free-hugging blouses and frilly backs of the tasteful midi dresses. The waist and neckline was underscored by the use of pony hair neon kelly green belts ÔÇô The colour was also used on seams and colour-blocking silk turn-ups. The bygone Hollywood glamour inspiration was thrown out of context by the idea of children playing in their fatherÔÇÖs jackets – Acted out by the exaggerated gold-poppers, chunky zips on the oversized tailored coats with bubble sleeves and patch pockets.

Overall the collection is excellent, Charming and sexy without being outrageous. IÔÇÖm quite certain Liberty will pick up the collection in store for sale ÔÇô Fingers crossed a few pieces will be featured in editorials to come. I wish Rob and Catherine the best for your pretty label, it was very nice meeting you and now I know that I remind you and look like your intern ;D
Big thanks to Pearl and Trace Publicity

Guest Post: Summer Clothing from Willliam Rast by Pammy Rosen

This is the second guest post by Pammy Rosen for Fashion Pearls of Wisdom, I do hope you have enjoyed reading her posts whilst I have been away. As you are reading this I will be in a jet lagged state but will be back with you later in the week.
Hottest Summer Clothing from William Rast

William Rast is an up and coming fashion company created by one of the most dynamic partnerships out there. Together, founders Justin Timberlake and Trace Ayala have created a hot, edgy, and provocative brand of fashion-William Rast. The brand was originally founded as a hip denim company back in 2005, and has evolved into an groundbreaking force in the world of fashion. What started as a denim company is now a full fashion line complete with leathers, outerwear, knits, and wovens.

William Rast is based in Los Angeles and distributes its fashion wear to department stores in the likes of Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, and Saks Fifth Avenue. William Rast is a global brand and has expanded its products into Italy, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Greece, Cyprus, and the Benelux Region of Europe.

This upcoming summer, William Rast is going to offer some of the hottest clothing. Some of my top picks for women contain the quality skinny jeans from William Rast, a leather jacket or two, and the hip t-shirts from William Rast.

1. Woven Blouse-Cream
This woven blouse is one of the hottest picks I have for women from William Rast. The brand truly understands the beauty of simplicity, but also how simplicity can be rocked with an edge. Try pairing this cream blouse with a pair of hot skinny jeans from William Rast, and your boyfriend will go nuts. The style is free and easy, yet highly sophisticated and sexy at the same time.

2. Fashion Top-Pistacchio
This tank features a light print of an American flag and is a light blue color. The graceful flow of this shirt also gives it a hip edge. This is the kind of tank that can be paired with anything from a pair of skinny jeans, to a hot mini skirt or capri pants. The subtle shape of the shirt leaves enough to the imagination and will have any guy begging to know your style up, close, and personal.

3. Jerri Ultra Skinny Rise- Rosewood
William Rast denim has perfect the skinny jean. It’s simply a fact. The tone of these jeans, along with their signature fit, is pure quality. Nowhere else can you find the art of skinny jeans created with such delicacy and care. The dark color of these skinny jeans makes them perfect for formal or casual wear. For a night out to the hottest club in L.A., these jeans are perfect when paired with a cute tank. For a day out at the beach, these jeans can also be rocked.

4. Tori Legging High Rise-Talcum
White pants are definitely in for summer. These leggings will look jaw dropping when paired with a signature William Rast loose t-shirt or tank and a pair of heels.

5. Drew Jacket-Powder
This denim jacket is great for parties on the beach, whether you are in L.A. or the Hamptons this summer. It’s a hot jacket and will look great with anything.

These are my top five picks for women for summer fashion from William Rast. Get these looks and you’ll be the hottest fashionista this summer.

On the runway

Pearl’s picks – I coudn’t resist adding these two pieces I would love in my wardrobe, whilst wearing them with jeans isn’t my style I would wear these with a sharp pair of cream peg-leg pants and a pair of fitted khakis respectively.
A big thanks once again to Pammy (I am sure she will have her own blog soon enough so watch this space!), see you all soon, Pearl xx
